Good Morning after the down below the Mackinac Bridge travels! Accomplishments were achieved at maximum capacity! Meeting new co workers and colleagues in another Tribal Territory with so much laughter was good medicine. I was invited back to the Mt. Pleasant Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for next month in July to do the good work for the Indigenous History Project. ⚡️

Know the difference between caretaking and taking care. Caretaking is when we take care of others for unhealthy reasons rather than genuine concern. Maybe we caretake to feel needed or avoid our own personal issues.

Mno Gzhep! Good Morning! A great Walleye Fry was had by the Lac Vieux Desert Community last night. Plenty of Ogaa! There was manoomin, frybread, cakes, potato salads and more ogaa! Teweigen was there singing all the good songs too! Great times!

May 1, 2017 was the day my first husband passed on to the spirit world. RIP Rich. 

Grief has me thinking back to 1990 with him. I have some good memories early on. The man loved his beer and me. He also loved really spicy food, his camaro and his Suzuki GSXR 750...he would do wheelies with me on the back of the bike! Crazy times with that one. He left me with two sons and we good. :)  Days like today, I remember I am only human, I am sober and I can sit with the pain. Only for a minute. I sm not staying there though...I got things to do today.

Good Sunday Morning! I am still hoping to hear the elks run across the sky!

wondering if you are surviving or living your life? I am one to binge watch episodes of "crime genre" on.  the couch with my snacks for years. SO, Hear me out.... I have a 12-year-old German Shepard and have been contemplating getting another puppy companion. Well, I did just that on December 13, 2024. I decided to live a little and I brought Pepper home from Bruce Crossing! She was the last of the litter, Pepper was only 3 months when she chose me. she is a springer spaniel / pit-bull mix. she is the strongest puppy I have ever known. she is teaching me how to stand in the middle of the forest at 2 am (while she bathroom breaks) to look up at the stars and the moon in the night sky. pepper is a force. for sure!

Breakfast was a lovely oven roasted acorn squash with butter and homemade maple syrup (syrup made by my son, T.C.)

I am hoping for a thunderstorm today, when the elks run across the sky and wake up all the winged and four legged beings! I went for a walk with my 7-month-old puppy in the forest last evening. The wind was cracking through the tall trees, so it was a hurried, cautionary walk. i looked up and all around and listened to the trees. I had to turn around and head back to be safe.

Reflection on gifts today in forms of balance and humility. everyone has a gift. you may know what yours is already or you may already have an intuition. what happens when you go in the opposite direction as what your gut is telling you?
